The 2023 MEG North America Conference will be held on the main campus of the NIH in Bethesda, MD.

Travel to Campus

It is strongly encouraged that you take the Metro or hotel shuttle to campus. For the metro, re-usable SmarTrip cards can be purchased at any station. Information on the Metro transit system, including fares, schedules, and estimated travel times from other stops, can be found at http://www.wmata.com/. Driving is strongly discouraged, but limited parking is available on campus for $12/day at the Gateway Entrance visitors parking garage.

There is only one Metro line (RED) at both the Bethesda Metro where the Hyatt Regency Bethesda is, and the Medical Center Metro where the NIH visitor center is. From the Hyatt at the Bethesda Metro station, take the metro ONE (1) stop towards either Grosvenor or Shady Grove (both trains on the same platform in the same direction), NOT towards Glenmont or Silver Spring. Get off at the Medical Center Metro station only one stop away.

Please allow adequate time to get to the NIH main campus and to get through security (allow 30 minutes for security). You will need to obtain a visitor's badge, so please bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Requirements can be found at the link above. Note that if you do not have a "Real ID" compliant ID, you may run into issues with campus access. It is always safest to bring a passport, which will always be accepted.

Navigating the NIH Campus

Once you obtain your visitor's badge, proceed to your left, up the stairs or elevator to the upper level exit of the Visitor’s Center.

Day 1 activities will be held in Building 10 (the NIH Clinical Center), in the FAES Terrace and FAES Classrooms 3 & 4.

Day 2 activities will be held in Building 35A, in the Atrium and Room 620/630.

Directions to the FAES Terrace/Classrooms

You can walk or take the NIH "Limited" Campus Shuttle to Building 10, the NIH Clinical Center. Leave the shuttle at the building's South Entrance. Upon entering Building 10, follow the signs to Masur Auditorium.

From Masur Auditorium, go north, past the Main Elevators. Look for the bookstore/coffee shop on your right and a sign from the ceiling saying "FAES Academic Center." and immediately turn right. The terrace is down the hall and up a few steps, we will have a registration table set up there. The classrooms will be down a flight of stairs from the terrace.

Wheelchair Access via Main elevator:

Take the Main Elevators outside Masur to the B1 level. Follow the "FAES Academic Center" signs down the hallway towards the Post Office. Across from the Post Office, enter the FAES Academic Center on the left. Once inside the FAES academic Center, Rooms 3 and 4 are on your right.

The Terrace is accessible by ramp. From Masur Auditorium, head north and take a right toward Lipsett Amphitheatre. Half-way down the hallway, look for a sign on your left for the Dental Clinic. Take a left there. The Terrace is on your left, so continue to the end of the hallway, go around the corner, and up the ramp.

Directions to Building 35A

Building 35A: John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center II (PNRC-II)

You can walk or take the red "Campus" Live Shuttle. Get off at Building 35. There is a lower entrance and an upper entrance. Take the lower entrance and you will be in the Atrium, where we will have a registration table set up. The meeting rooms, 620/630, are just off to the left side of the Atrium.
