The 2023 MEG North America Conference will be held on the main campus of the NIH in
Bethesda, MD.

Here is a document summarizing meeting room locations:
[https://megcore.nih.gov/index.php/File:Directions.pdf Directions.pdf]

== Travel to Campus ==
It is strongly encouraged that you take the Metro or hotel shuttle to campus.
For the metro, re-usable SmarTrip cards can be purchased at any station.
Information on the Metro transit system, including fares, schedules, and estimated
travel times from other stops, can be found at http://www.wmata.com/. Driving is
strongly discouraged, but limited parking is available on campus for $12/day at the
Gateway Entrance visitors parking garage.

There is only one Metro line (RED) at both the Bethesda Metro where the Hyatt
Regency Bethesda is, and the Medical Center Metro where the NIH visitor center is.
From the Hyatt at the Bethesda Metro station, take the metro ONE (1) stop towards
either Grosvenor or Shady Grove (both trains on the same platform in the same
direction), NOT towards Glenmont or Silver Spring. Get off at the Medical Center
Metro station only one stop away.

== Security ==

*[https://www.nih.gov/about-nih/visitor-information NIH Visitor Information]
*[https://www.nih.gov/about-nih/visitor-information/campus-access-security Campus Access and Security]
Please allow adequate time to get to the NIH main campus and to get through security (allow 30 minutes for security). You will need to obtain a visitor's badge, so please bring a valid government-issued
photo ID. Requirements can be found at the link above. Note that if you do not have a "Real ID" compliant ID, you may run into issues with campus access. It is always safest to bring a passport, which will always be accepted.

== Navigating the NIH Campus ==
Once you obtain your visitor's badge, proceed to your left, up the stairs or elevator to the upper level exit of the Visitor’s Center.

Day 1 activities will be held in Building 10 (the NIH Clinical Center), in the FAES Terrace and FAES Classrooms 3 & 4.

Day 2 activities will be held in Building 35A, in the Atrium and Room 640 (Front Room Only).

===Directions to the FAES Terrace/Classrooms ===

You can walk or take the NIH "Limited" Campus [https://wttsshuttle.com/map Shuttle] to Building 10, the NIH Clinical Center. Leave the shuttle at the building's South Entrance. Upon entering Building 10, follow the signs to Masur Auditorium.

From Masur Auditorium, go north, past the Main Elevators. Look for the bookstore/coffee shop on your right and a sign from the ceiling saying "FAES Academic Center." and immediately turn right. The terrace is down the hall and up a few steps, we will have a registration table set up there. The classrooms will be down a flight of stairs from the terrace.

'''Wheelchair Access via Main elevator:'''

Take the Main Elevators outside Masur to the B1 level. Follow the "FAES Academic Center" signs down the hallway towards the Post Office. Across from the Post Office, enter the FAES Academic Center on the left. Once inside the FAES academic Center, Rooms 3 and 4 are on your right.

The Terrace is accessible by ramp. From Masur Auditorium, head north and take a right toward Lipsett Amphitheatre. Half-way down the hallway, look for a sign on your left for the Dental Clinic. Take a left there. The Terrace is on your left, so continue to the end of the hallway, go around the corner, and up the ramp.

=== Directions to Building 35A ===

Building 35A: John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center II (PNRC-II)

You can walk or take the red "Campus" [https://wttsshuttle.com/map Live Shuttle]. Get off at Building 35. There is a lower entrance and an upper entrance. Take the lower entrance and you will be in the atrium, where we will have a registration table set up. The meeting rooms are just off to the left side of the terrace.

== Purpose ==
The MEG community worldwide is a small one, with around 150 MEG laboratories. While there is a bi-annual conference, [https://biomagcentral.org/conferences/upcoming.html BIOMAG], there is no associated professional society, and no dedicated journal. Although there are smaller professional groups for clinical MEG, there is no broader group encompassing the entirety of MEG research. The MEG North America workshop was initiated in 2016 to provide an opportunity for North American research and clinical MEG labs to gather in the hopes of fostering collaboration.

The inaugural meeting sought to answer these questions:
1. What does MEG add to the field of neuroscience above and beyond other existing techniques?
2. How can we support the evolution of MEG acquisition and methods, through both software and hardware?
3. How can we develop and support infrastructure to share data and facilitate big science?
4. How could an MEG-North America consortium work to address these issues?

Subsequent meetings have continued to explore these topics, with the addition of a Hackathon to focus on MEG analysis methods that will benefit the community at large.

== DRAFT NIMH MEG Core Facility Return to Work Guidelines: Subject to change ==

=== Group B ===

These guidelines have been adapted from the overall NMR Center guidelines.

# Study teams must receive approval from their Clinical Director or designee for scanning.
# '''All persons in the lab''' should wear CC approved '''masks''' at all times and practice hand hygiene.
# Staff or study team members with more than '''5 minutes''' of face-face interaction should wear a '''face shield'''.
# The MEG lab will be broken up into '''Zones''', each person in the lab must stay in their assigned zone, in order to maintain physical distancing (2 meters) as much as possible.

If investigators plan to scan off-hours when core staff are not available, a study team member must have an in-person training session to learn MEG lab disinfection procedures before scanning. We will maintain a log of investigators who have been trained and are approved to scan.

Core facility staff or a study team member trained in disinfection procedures must be available to ensure proper infection control and disinfection procedures are followed.

These guidelines are provided for MEG Core Facility investigators and staff to minimize the risk of spread of SARS-CoV2 as subject/patient volume continues to increase during Group B of the NIH “return to physical work” framework. These guidelines are intended for scanning of asymptomatic subjects/patients who have been screened by the Clinical Center for symptoms of COVID-19 and recent exposures, or who have tested negative for COVID-19 according to Clinical Center testing guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the NMR Center Return to Work Committee and are similar to NIH CC Radiology Department guidelines for non-COVID-19 patients.

Patients with known COVID-19 disease should not be scanned in the MEG Core Facility.

NIH COVID Return to Physical Workspaces Guidance (updated July 2020) must be followed. https://employees.nih.gov/pages/coronavirus/return-physical-workspaces-guidance.aspx

Investigators must follow NIH Clinical Center policies related to COVID http://intranet.cc.nih.gov/hospitalepidemiology/emerging_infectious_diseases.html

direction), NOT towards Glenmont or Silver Spring. Get off at the Medical Center
Once you obtain your visitors badge, proceed to your left, up the stairs or elevator
to the upper level exit of the Visitor’s Center. Once outside, follow the signs down
the hill to the Natcher Conference Center (Building 45). The curved, glass building
